An English-speaking drama group which made a round-trip of 3,000 miles to take part in the National Drama Festival picked up two Awards as a result. Members of the Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts (GAMPA) undertook the journey from close to the southernmost point in Europe to the Albany Theatre, Coventry.
BY PAUL JOHNSONMost of the six-strong cast caught a three-hour flight to Heathrow from the British Overseas Territory at the tip of the Iberian peninsula, before travelling onwards by rail. But their set had to be freighted by road on a three-day trip across the length of Spain and France before being shipped up to Coventry from the Channel and stored locally with Coventry’s amateur theatre, the Criterion.
