'Saint Joan' follows the rise and fall of Joan of Arc, the famous religious martyr who died at the hands of an oppressive government and society. This modern interpretation is by turns hilarious and heartbreaking, and explores themes of misogyny, colonialism and faith. Joan's unshakeable devotion to her people and her God transcends time, place and religion. This is a Joan for every age.
The play is reopening the Bloomsbury Theatre, a 500-seat venue that has been under refurbishment for three years. We are thrilled that the first show in the new theatre will be one spearheaded by women. Women are leading the production team as producers, directors and in set, costume and sound design.
